What is the TOPIK?
TOPIK, the Test of Proficiency in Korean, is the official Korean language test run by the Korean government. Schools, universities and employers use it to check your Korean: for language schools and exchange programs, university and graduate school admission, and jobs and visa applications.
TOPIK I
Levels 1-2 · Listening, Reading
- Listening 30 questions (40 min) + Reading 40 questions (60 min)
- Total score: 200 points
TOPIK II
Levels 3-6 · Listening, Writing, Reading
- Session 1: Listening 50 questions (60 min) + Writing 4 questions (50 min)
- Session 2: Reading 50 questions (70 min)
- Total score: 300 points
Official paper-based format. TOPIK Speaking is a separate test (6 tasks, about 30 min).

How TOPIK practice works on LingoLab
- Three separate tests. TOPIK I, TOPIK II and TOPIK Speaking, like the real exam. You can practise up to 1,000 rounds of TOPIK tests, drawn at random and never repeated for you, each in the official order and timing.
- Estimated level. Your score shows your estimated level, based on the official TOPIK cutoffs. It is a self-check before the real exam, not an official result.
- Questions in Korean. Questions are in Korean like the real TOPIK, with Listening audio, Reading passages and Writing tasks. After grading you can review answers and explanations and keep your results in My test history.
- Speaking. 6 tasks with prep and answer timers. Your answers are recorded and scored by AI (content, language use and delivery), with written feedback, your transcript and a model answer.
For subscribers. TOPIK I and TOPIK II use 20 tokens each and TOPIK Speaking uses 55 tokens. Tokens are deducted when you press Start test and are not returned if you stop or leave before finishing.See pricing
Question-bank tests are practice material made by LingoLab; the Past Papers tab has official TOPIK papers. No pass guarantee. TOPIK is administered by NIIED; LingoLab is not affiliated.
Every member, including free members without a subscription, can practise recent official TOPIK past papers for free (0 tokens) in the Past Papers tab. More rounds are added over time.

- What is the TOPIK?
- TOPIK, the Test of Proficiency in Korean, is the official Korean language test run by the Korean government (NIIED). Schools, universities and employers use it to check your Korean, for example for language schools, university admission, jobs and visas.
- What is the difference between TOPIK I and TOPIK II?
- TOPIK I covers Levels 1-2 with Listening and Reading (out of 200 points). TOPIK II covers Levels 3-6 with Listening, Writing and Reading (out of 300 points). TOPIK Speaking is a separate test with 6 tasks.
- How is my TOPIK level decided?
- Your total score decides your TOPIK level. On the paper test, TOPIK I gives Level 1 from 80 and Level 2 from 140 points; TOPIK II gives Level 3 from 120, Level 4 from 150, Level 5 from 190 and Level 6 from 230 points. Scores are valid for 2 years from the results date.
- How much does a TOPIK practice test cost?
- TOPIK practice tests are for subscribers. TOPIK I and TOPIK II use 20 tokens each and TOPIK Speaking (AI scoring) uses 55 tokens. Tokens are deducted when you press Start and are not returned if you stop or leave before finishing.
- Are these real TOPIK questions?
- Two kinds. The question-bank tests are practice material made by LingoLab Korean, not past TOPIK questions. The Past Papers tab has official TOPIK papers from recent exam rounds (free for logged-in members), and more past rounds are added over time. Neither guarantees that you will pass. The questions are in Korean, like the real TOPIK.
- Can institutions or companies use the TOPIK question bank through an API?
- We have built a TOPIK question bank of up to 1,000 rounds of TOPIK tests and plan to provide it through an API to schools, institutions and companies that need it. The API is coming soon. Please contact us through the Contact page (lingolabkorean.net/contact).

- Yes. Members can take TOPIK I, TOPIK II and TOPIK Speaking practice tests now. Each start gives you one random round you haven't taken before.
